World SME Expo Offers China Opportunities for U.S. Exporters
It’s a statistic we rarely hear, but China is the world’s fastest-growing market for U.S. EXPORTS. Smaller U.S. exporters sizing up the China market should consider the well-organized and growing “World SME Expo” trade show put on each year in Hong Kong. This year’s show takes place December 12-14th. Unlike many China trade shows, this one is strongly focused on small and mid-sized enterprises (SME’s) and offers a good mix of buyers and sellers, including many companies that are interesting in distributing U.S. products in China. Last year’s show drew in 4200 SME’s from mainland China, as well as over 31,000 visitors from 62 countries. Of these, over 95% rated the show “excellent” or “good” and 99% said they planned to return this year.
Hong Kong, with its widespread use of English and its traditions of British law (including intellectual property protection), is an excellent platform for arranging transactions in mainland China, as well as a booming market itself. The show includes industry-specific networking sessions, one-on-one China Business Advisory Services, and pre-arranged business matching appointments. The venue is Hong Kong’s striking new Convention and Visitor Centre, right on the city’s beautiful harbor.
