Small Biz Week Forum on Exporting
During National Small Business Week—which was May 16 – 20—the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) held various events, including a forum dedicated to highlighting exporting opportunities for small businesses. According to Luz Hopewell, Acting Associate Administrator , Office of International Trade at the SBA who kicked off the forum, ninety-six percent of the world’s customers live outside the U.S., representing two-thirds of the world’s purchasing power.
With myriad speakers ranging from large exporters to small firms new to exporting, participants heard stories running the gamut on the challenges and successes of exporting. Various government officials also were present to discuss the many resources available both in Washington, D.C., and locally for small-business owners looking to start, or expand, their exporting operations.
